Reform UK's Lee Anderson has put his critics to bed, securing a huge landslide in Ashfield. Mr Anderson won the seat by more than 5,500 votes following a campaign often dominated by Nigel Farage's visits to the area.

Mr Anderson, the former Conservative Party deputy chairman, stood in this race for Mr Farage's Reform UK after being suspended by the Tories for comments made about Sadiq Khan. Having won Ashfield for the Conservatives in 2019 with a majority of nearly 6,000 as part of the fall of Labour's Red Wall, the former Labour councillor achieved 17,062 votes in this election.

Mr Anderson, who once worked as the office manager for former Ashfield Labour MP Gloria De Piero, described the contest as a two-horse race between himself and his Ashfield Independent rival Jason Zadrozny throughout the campaign.

Councillor Zadrozny, who also leads Ashfield District Council, achieved 6,276 votes. The council leader is due at Northampton Crown Court in February 2025 charged with 12 counts of fraud by false representation and four counts of income tax evasion - to which he has pleaded not guilty in all cases.

Labour's Rhea Keehn, who was prominent in the fight to save the Rumbles Café from closure by Ashfield District Council, achieved 11,554 votes. With Ashfield being home to a large ex-mining community, Ms Keehn said Labour's pledge to review the mineworkers' pension scheme was a particular asset to her campaign.

Having suspended Lee Anderson, the Conservatives were initially unsure as to whether they would pick a candidate to fight against him in Ashfield. In the end, the party chose Debbie Soloman, currently serving as a member of Rushcliffe Borough Council, who achieved 3,271 votes.

Below are the full results for each candidate:

Lee Anderson (Reform UK) 17,062

Alexander Coates (Green) 1,100

Daniel Holmes (Liberal Democrats) 619

Rhea Keehn (Labour) 11,554

Debbie Soloman (Conservative) 3,271

Jason Zadrozny (Independent) 6,276
