Assange 'To Model At London Fashion Week'

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is planning to take part in London Fashion Week as a model, it has been reported.

The Australian is currently inside the Ecuadorean embassy in London, avoiding extradition to Sweden where he is wanted for questioning over claims of sex offences.

He is reported to have agreed to model for Vivienne Westwood’s son Ben at a fashion show staged inside the embassy, where he has been for the past two years.

Mr Westwood told the Daily Mail: "Julian’s been in the embassy for two years and it’s important that he doesn’t slip into obscurity.

"I want to highlight Julian Assange’s plight. What happened to him is totally unfair."

Mr Assange, 42, is expected to be joined by six models during his catwalk outing in September.

Mr Westwood says the collection was influenced by costumes worn by Clint Eastwood in western films, as well as Mr Assange’s combat-beret look.

He added: "I've designed something for him along those lines and will be getting him to wear it.

"I’ve got another garment with a Julian Assange print."

During his time in the embassy - which is closely monitored by UK police - Mr Assange has tried to keep himself in the public eye.

He has made a speech from the balcony, run for parliament in Australia and hosted Lady Gaga as a guest.
