Aston Villa given glimpse of adidas Premier League kit template

Ahead of becoming Aston Villa's kit supplier, adidas have unveiled their first new Premier League home shirt for the 2024/25 campaign with rivals Arsenal.

There has been an air of excitement around Villa Park in anticipation of the German kit supplier's arrival, ever since it was announced they would take over from Castore. Ahead of the last home game of the season against Liverpool on Monday, president of business operations Chris Heck even teased the theme of the next home shirt.

That means it can't be long now until official news arrives on supporters' laps, and this has been suggested further by the fact adidas have made their first kit reveal of the year down in North London.

Arsenal, who have been partnered with adidas since 2019 and later signed an extension deal worth £75m-per-year through to 2030, have officially begun marketing and selling their new home kit.

It has a primarily red base as expected, with a circular collar and white sleeves plus side panels that extend around the lower rear of the shirt. It incorporates three navy blue stripes that are synonymous with the brand from neck to shoulder, as well as having same coloured trim along the edge of the side panels that extend down onto plain white shorts. Finally, the socks are a solid red colour.

But one aspect Villa fans will be particularly interested in is the bold change of crest on the left breast of the Gunners' latest entry. Villa have teased a return to a shield similar in shape to those used prior to 2023/24's circular crest, and although it is not clear whether all clubs partnered with adidas will make such changes, Arsenal have opted to ditch their shield for the first time since 1989/90 in favour of a sole cannon.

Templates are often used across clubs by brands like Adidas, therefore it is easy to visualise Villa's colours replacing Arsenal's in a mock-up replica. The same could be said for Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Fulham, who are all also using the supplier next season.

Arsenal's new kit has also gone live on the club's shop, with men's, women's and children's options retailing with various versions and prices.

Male and female short-sleeved replica shirts are on sale at £80, with the long sleeve version £85. Following that there is what is known as the 'authentic' home shirt, which incorporates a slimmer fit with the brand's HEAT.RDY air cooling technology, is listed for £110.

The children's version in multiple sizes sells for £55 as a short-sleeved shirt, or £60 as a long-sleeved shirt.
