The worst kept secret in Aston Villa's history could be announced at tonight's Liverpool game, at least that's what supporters are speculating.

The club have teamed up with adidas for next season in a move that has left Villa supporters excited for the new shirt the team will be wearing for the new campaign.

With the club teasing the change over the last few days, fans now believe there could be a special announcement for the final home game of the season against Liverpool tonight.

A series of murals and advertising displays have started to pop up around Villa Park and Birmingham city centre and the buzz has heightened the expectation with supporters who are looking forward to seeing the three stripes on the Villa kit.

There have been some images leaked from abroad of kits on sale on market stalls, but the questionable look of the products has led to reddit users slamming the image as fake.

The club are due to announce a new kit deal with adidas shortly as well as a new crest. Supporters have noticed that the club's new badge is being painted on the wall of the former Stumps building off Witton Lane.

There is also an outline of the Adidas logo, with the word 'prepared' in block capitals seen further along the wall.

It's led to Villa fans posting their theories on social media ahead of kick off. Luke Marshall was one of them, stating: "I reckon we get a logo and adidas announcement tonight before the game. Maybe a tease of the new kit."

Aston Villa Updates posted: "Emi Buendia named on the team sheet pictured in the programme wearing the new Adidas kit and all players run out wearing it… that would be some start to the game right"

Villa have also confirmed that they will be closing the club shop after Monday night's Premier League against Liverpool "to allow a considerable schedule of works to commence ahead of a multi-million-pound project that will transform our club store and double its size."
