Australian TV gameshow branded sexist after asking contestants to 'name a woman's job'

Network Ten came under fire during an episode of Family Feud on Wednesday which asked two competing sides to name a ‘woman’s job’ and also list a ‘man’s job’

'Cleaning' was the top answer on the controversial quiz question

A ‘sexist’ Australian network has been forced to apologise after a TV gameshow asked contestants to ‘name a woman’s job’.

Network Ten came under fire during an episode of Family Feud on Wednesday which asked two competing sides to name a ‘woman’s job’ and also list a ‘man’s job’.

The top response to a 'a woman's job' was cooking while cleaning was second and washing clothes was the last of the eight answers.

The top responses to 'a man's' job were building and mowing the lawn.

Answers for Family Feud are derived from responses posed to 100 Australians and the show came under fire on social media for airing those specific questions.

One person tweeted that if these are real responses then Australia is 'stuck in the 50s.'

Ten issued a statement on Thursday apologising for the two questions being asked.

'Network Ten apologises for including two questions relating to what people think is a man's job and a woman's job in the episode of Family Feud which aired last night,' the statement read.

'The questions were ill advised and should not have been included in the show.

'The survey results are determined by 100 people and we understand they are not reflective of all Australians.'

Family Feud has been a ratings success for Ten since it launched on July 14.
