Australian Zoo Animals Cool Down in Summer Heat With Popsicle Party

Hippos and camels at an Australian zoo were treated to a popsicle party to help cool down in the summer heat.

Zoos Victoria said Werribee Open Range Zoo’s “largest herbivores are keeping cool in Melbourne’s dry summer heat by crunching into icy poles filled with their favorite treats.”

Video shows the animals enjoying hay, crushed watermelon, and elephant grass frozen in ice blocks.

“Under the shade of large trees, cheeky camels work to lick watermelon and hay-filled ice blocks attached to the tree branches,” Zoos Victoria said in a press release. “Meanwhile, the resident hippopotamuses enjoy their popsicles pond-side in their large Savannah habitat.” Credit: Zoos Victoria via Storyful
