The average Brit carries out 223 good deeds every year, study claims

A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that on average, they perform 223 acts of kindness annually. Common gestures include holding doors open, accepting deliveries for neighbours, and providing directions.

Other frequent good deeds are donating to charity, offering a seat on public transport, and brewing a cuppa for tradespeople. Acts such as aiding family with chores, helping others with heavy shopping bags, and picking up discarded rubbish also featured prominently.

The desire to make others feel 'good' motivates 40 per cent of people, while 34 per cent do it for their own sense of contentment.

The research, celebrating the UK debut of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's select Teremana tequila, found that 82 per cent experience a 'positive' boost from these actions. Coinciding with the tequila's introduction, which means 'Spirit of the Earth,' a 'Mana Mural' has been displayed in Shoreditch, London.

This mural has become a canvas for positivity, with individuals like the All On The Board duo inscribing messages of joy and thankfulness.

Psychotherapist Emma Reed-Turrell commented: "Positive social interactions are good for our mental health. When we share a positive experience with others, our brains release oxytocin which can promote empathy, trust and relationship-building. And the more we engage in these feel-good behaviours, the more oxytocin we get. It's a virtuous circle."

The study revealed that 58 per cent of people believe acts of kindness need not be grand gestures, as even the smallest ones can have a significant impact.

The study, which was carried out through OnePoll, revealed 61 per cent have had someone go ‘above and beyond’ for them.

Furthermore, it emerged that 46 per cent feel there is currently "too much" negativity in the UK, while 54 per cent think 'not enough' individuals perform good deeds.

In anticipation of the Mana Mural's unveiling, which the public can visit until Thursday, July 4, Dwayne Johnson expressed his affection for the UK: "The UK is a special place for me. To now be able to 'share the Mana' with the UK is a privilege."

According to the research conducted via OnePoll, 61 per cent of participants have experienced someone going 'above and beyond' for them. This led to 65 per cent feeling grateful, 60 per cent feeling appreciative, and 42 per cent feeling loved.

Jonathan Dennys, spokesperson for Mast-Jagermeister UK, commented on the findings: "Our research underscores the profound impact of simple acts of kindness. And the Mana Mural is our way of celebrating and amplifying these moments."

Dennys also extended an invitation: "We invite everyone to 'Share the Mana' by contributing messages of positivity and gratitude to the mural."
