'Avian panic' as seagull gets trapped in South West kebab shop

This was the moment a seagull threatened to cause havoc in a late-night takeaway this week - before being swiftly dealt with by kebab shop staff. The drama was captured by a customer just seconds after the cheeky seagull snuck in to Flames, by the quayside in Gloucester, as Gloucestershire Live reports.

As soon as it was rumbled, the hungry bird took flight, trying to evade capture while at the same time trying to swoop down on some of the food behind the counter. The bird did manage to get onto the serving counter, briefly, while one customer screamed continuously, before the bird was yanked away by a member of staff, who unceremoniously chucked the hapless bird out of the door.

The incident happened at around 12.20am on Thursday night this week, and was filmed by Daniel Cooper. The local artist and resident DJ at the Moon Under Water Wetherspoons in Cheltenham, said the bird was in there long enough to poop on one customer.

“My friend Roger and I were waiting for a spicy vegetarian pizza, when I felt something brushing against the back of my leg,” he said.

“I looked around and the seagull flew up into my face, so naturally I whipped out my phone and captured the following 15 seconds of avian panic. The staff dealt with the situation relatively calmly and quickly managed to eject the gull, unfortunately not before it had the chance to defecate on a fellow customer's football top,” he added.
