Avid drummer, 20, with 'kind and caring' nature killed in tragic 3am Renault Megane crash

The family of a young man killed when his Renault Megane was involved in a crash on Sunday (May 19) have paid tribute to a 'kind and caring’ son.

Michael McTaggart's vehicle collided with another car on Burnley Road East at around 3am. The 20-year-old, from Rossendale, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident. They particularly want to hear from anyone with dascham footage recorded in the area at the time of the tragedy.

Today (May 20), Michael's devastated family have issued a statement remembering a young man with a 'caring nature'.

They said: "Michael Pearce McTaggart, aged 20, has sadly passed away following a road traffic collision in Rossendale. He was an avid drummer in his spare time and played in multiple bands.

“Growing up, Michael was a pupil at Haslingden High School and more recently worked as a carer, a testament to his kind and caring nature. He was the beloved son of Paul and Joan, and sibling to Kurt, Matthew and Nicole, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.”

Lancashire Police who are investigating the collision are appealing for residents on Burnley Road East – between Waterfoot and the scene of the collision - who have CCTV/ring door bell footage, to get in touch.
