Canadian pop-punk star Avril Lavigne wowed fans at Glastonbury Festival, with many saying she should have been the headline act on Sunday night, and is now headed to Cardiff Castle. Known for her great hits like Complicated, Girlfriend and Sk8er Boi Avril burst into the music scene in 2002.

She is performing at Cardiff Castle on Tuesday, July 2. Aged 39 she is considered a key musician in developing pop-punk music, as she paved the way for female-driven, punk-influenced pop music in the early 2000s.

Event timings for Avril Lavigne at Cardiff Castle

Gates for the gig open at 5pm on Tuesday, July 2 and last entry is at 8.30pm. There is strictly no re-admission and ticket holders should expect queues at the entry gate and arrive with plenty of time before the first act they wish to see – no refunds will be given for acts missed.

Line-up for Avril Lavigne at Cardiff Castle

Avril will be joined by her support act, Simple Plan. They are a Canadian rock band, with six studio albums and their most recent album, Harder Than It Looks was released in 2022.

The band consists of Pierre Bouvier on lead vocals, bass, and additional guitar and percussion, Chuck Comeau on drums and percussion, Jeff Stinco on lead guitar and Sebastien Lefebvre on rhythm guitar, backing vocals and bass.

Banned items for Avril Lavigne at Cardiff Castle

You can not bring a chair to the gig. Food and drink are not permitted however there are food and drink concessions within the event. One sealed water bottle is allowed per person, a maximum of 500ml.

One empty reusable water bottle is permitted. There will be free water refill stations at the venue. If you have a medical condition, then a doctor’s note will permit diet-specific food and drink only.

No animals, other than guide or hearing dogs, are permitted on site. You are permitted to bring required medication, please bring a copy of your prescription or a doctor’s note. Please make sure you only bring enough for the duration of the festival and ensure you keep it safe with you at all times.

Small bags/rucksacks are permitted. Bag searches will be in operation. Umbrellas are not permitted as they obscure the view of others. Any cameras that are deemed as “professional” will not be permitted into the arena.

The event is outdoors and will go ahead unless there is extreme weather so you might need to pack your sun cream or your raincoat. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
