Grandpa Greene’s story dates all the way back to the 1920s where the ice cream maker would churn in the back yard of his Salford corner shop experimenting with flavours and perfecting his iconic flavours.

Over a century later, you will find the venue’s staff continuing Greene’s legacy, taking his original recipe and pushing it forward into new and unexpected places.

Based in scenic Saddleworth, Grandpa Greene’s specialises in handmade luxury ice cream made with whole milk and thick double cream, and blended with locally sourced ingredients and fruit to create perfection in every scoop.

There's a whole world of flavours to choose from including heavenly honeycomb, whiskey and ginger and raspberry pavlova on offer – alongside an array of vegan options – there really is something for everyone.


And ice-cream isn't the only thing on offer at Grandpa Greene's, in recent years the establisment has become known for it's delicious and locally-sourced cafe menu which offers everything from home-cooked breakfasts, to sandwhiches, light bites and afternoon tea. The Award Winning eaterie is set in the picturesque village of Diggle, a mere 20 minute drive from Huddersfield, the Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe Bar offers glass fronted terraces, an indoor dining room, and waterfront seating making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a unique dining experience combining quality local ingredients with exquisite views.

One reviewer, who goes by the user name Nayaris, penned: "Grandpa Greene's is a cute little spot. We chose the afternoon tea and it lived up to expectations. Our host Jess was nice, attentive and gave us a really good experience to be remembered :) Extra bonus that we saw many cute furry friends."

A second happy customer, Antony B, wrote: "A beautiful location, delicious food and delectable desserts. Nicola was a credit to the team and couldn't do enough for us! Top tip - DO NOT order a sundae each - they are obscenely large!"

Whilst Paige R agreed: "Lovely breakfast! Served by Sienna and Ellie, both couldn’t do enough to make sure our experience great! We will definitely visit again. Food was amazing and we took the two dogs and they loved the sausage and ice cream!"
