Award-winning Elvis tribute names Glasgow venue as one of favourites to perform in

An award-winning Elvis tribute act has named a Glasgow venue as one of his favourites places to perform.

Despite winning big at the National Tribute Music Awards and being voted Grand European Champion and Best Vegas Elvis, Rob Kingsley, the star of A Vision of Elvis, says playing at the city centre’s Pavilion Theatre is one of his favourite stops on tour.

Lucky for Rob and Elvis fans in the city, the star will return to the popular theatre for his Vision of Elvis show on Saturday, September 21.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times, Rob said: “The pavilion is one of my favourite venues, I absolutely love playing there.

“It’s a beautiful building and it is such an honour to play on that stage, especially when I think of all the acts that came before me.”

Rob, who is from just outside of Edinburgh, added that coming to Glasgow is always a highlight – especially because of the crowds.

He said: “I love Glasgow – it is always a great night.

“There is always so many people in the crowd and it is a great atmosphere, I look forward to it every year.”

The forthcoming show will treat fans to a range of Elvis classics like Faded Love, Burning Love and Suspicious Minds, and promises to be a visual treat for attendees with a great light show.

Throughout the gig, attendees will be encouraged to join in and sing along while even having a wee boogie.

Rob said: “The show is a proper production. It will take people through the eras of Elvis and hopefully, there is something for everyone.

“We encourage people to join in and sing along and just celebrate Elvis’s life.”

Rob added that he hopes people will leave the show happy, with some smiles on their faces.

He said: “Hopefully we can have a good night, and everyone can go home happy.”

Rob’s love for Elvis began back in his younger days when he heard a little 1956 tune called Heartbreak Hotel, for the first time.

He explained: “I still remember hearing Heartbreak Hotel for the first time – I was like wow, who is that?

“I thought he had an amazing voice which has stood the testament of time. He is still the king, and he always will be.”

He continued: “Since I was a kid, I liked Elvis. I’ve always been a fan.

“My mum used to play his music all the time and he just stuck out for me, it’s just developed from there.

“In my hometown they all know, oh, that’s the guy that likes Elvis.

“It’s nice being on the stage and doing a tribute to Elvis – it’s a great thing to be able to do.”
