Baby dies after being found 'not breathing' inside property

A police investigation is underway after a one-year-old baby was found dead at a property.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called to Bonscale Crescent, Middleton, at around 2.05pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday, June 30). Police said they were responding to 'reports of a baby not breathing at an address'.

The area was cordoned off as an air ambulance landed on a nearby grassed area. Sadly, the one-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police has not released any further details about the child at this time. An investigation into their death is now underway.

A police officer reportedly remains stationed outside a property on Bonscale Crescent today (Monday). A GMP spokesperson stated: "At around 2.05pm on Sunday, 30 June 2024, officers were called to reports of a baby not breathing at an address on Bonscale Crescent in Middleton.", reports the Manchester Evening News.

"Sadly, a one-year-old child was pronounced deceased at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services. An investigation is ongoing."
