Baby found dead at home with man arrested for 'murder' by Met Police

A baby was found dead at home by the Metropolitan Police yesterday (Monday, July 8). A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

The circumstances around the death are currently unknown however the police say they are conducting an urgent investigation.

The Met was called to Taviton Street near Euston Square, Central London, yesterday after 2pm to reports of a 'concern for welfare'. When the police arrived with members of the London Ambulance Service at the address they found the baby dead.

The police are looking into the incident. The man arrested is in custody.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Shortly after 14:00hrs on Monday, 8 July, police were called to Taviton Street, WC1, to reports of a concern for welfare.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene. A baby was sadly found dead.

"Enquiries continue into the circumstances.

"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was taken into custody."
