Baby Phat Reissues Y2K-themed Puffer Jackets to Celebrate Its 25th Anniversary

Baby Phat is bringing Y2K nostalgia to winter 2024, releasing the BP Puffer.

The padded outerwear piece is a reimagined version of the original Baby Phat jackets launched in the early 2000s, which embraced hip-hop fashion and logomania and created a viral sensation.

The brand’s reintroduction of the jacket also represents a kickoff to its 25th anniversary celebration.

Offered in four new colorways (olive, onyx, sand and a glossy red), the reissued jackets feature faux-fur detachable hoods, bold zippers and the brand’s signature cat logo on the back.

Both Kimora Lee Simmons and her daughter Ming Lee Simmons star in the marketing campaign for the puffer jackets. Throughout the brand’s run, Simmons often walked Baby Phat catwalks with her daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee by her side.

Founded by Kimora Lee Simmons in 1999, Baby Phat debuted as an extension of Simmons’ then-husband Russell Simmons’ Phat Farm label. In the early 2000s, the brand, which included velour tracksuits, miniskirts and jewelry with shiny-embellished cat logos, was worn by Lil ‘Kim, Alicia Keys and Raven-Symoné.

In 2019, Simmons relaunched (and reacquired) Baby Phat, since collaborating with Macy’s, Forever 21, Puma and more on collections.

The BP Puffer is available at babyphat.com, priced at $120 and sizes ranging from XS to 3X.
