A Coventry nightclub has caused a storm online after it announced a 'world exclusive' public appearance by Fiona Harvey, alleged to be the real inspiration for the character Martha on hit Netflix show Baby Reindeer. Kasbah Nightclub on Primrose Hill Street posted a promotional image to the Facebook page, which has 44,000 followers, saying that the woman would be making a 'personal appearance' where she will 'sign autographs, take selfies and maybe take some lucky reindeer home to hang her curtains'.

Scot Fiona, 58, recently gave an exclusive interview to Piers Morgan in which she said that the miniseries, which depicts a former lawyer unleashing a relentless stalking and harrassment campaign against writer and screen star Richard Gadd, was a 'work of fiction'.

The dark seven-episode show is a 'true story' according to Netflix and it tells how Gadd's character Donny is subject to hundreds of hours of unwanted voice messages and more than 40,000 emails from 'Martha', a woman he meets in the pub he works at.

Kasbah Nightclub has a long history of pranking followers with stunts, including a false claim that Donald Trump's lawyers were pushing for them to remove an image of the president from publicity shots. BirminghamLive has contacted the club to confirm the authenticity of the claim that Fiona Harvey will be appearing at the event, billed to be taking place this coming weekend.

Followers on the Kasbah Facebook page have accused the venue of 'taking advantage' of Fiona Harvey. Christina Morgan-Danvers wrote: "This isn't OK, don't take advantage of someone so vulnerable."

Joshua Maguire said: "This nightclub is forever embarassing the city." Ayaz Ali added: "This is grotesque."

Jasmine Harlow wrote: "Imagine if it was a guy who had claims of stalking a woman then this nightclub paying him to sign autographs! This is absolutely sick."

Responding to a critic on Facebook, Kasbah said: "The actor starred in a series based on his own true life story, he literally created the publicity for her? He's laughing all the way to the bank mate."
