‘The Bachelor,’ ‘American Idol’ Among Eight Unscripted Renewals at ABC

ABC is bringing back a big chunk of its unscripted shows for the 2024-25 TV season.

The network has renewed seven series — American Idol, The Bachelor, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Dancing With the Stars, Shark Tank and the ABC News-produced What Would You Do? — for next season. They join The Golden Bachelorette, a spinoff of last fall’s breakout The Golden Bachelor, on the 2024-25 slate. (The Bachelorette is also set for its usual summer run.)

On May 13, ABC announced America’s Funniest Home Videos would join the other renewals. The longest-running entertainment series in the network’s history will air its 35th season in 2024-25.

American Idol will air its eighth season on ABC (and 23rd overall) in 2024-25, although it will do so without judge Katy Perry, who is leaving at the end of the current season. Dancing With the Stars (season 33), The Bachelor (season 29), What Would You Do? (season 17) and Shark Tank (season 16) are all into their second (or third) decades on the network. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune will get its fifth season and Celebrity Jeopardy!, its third.

In addition to The Bachelorette, ABC will also air game shows Celebrity Family Feud, Claim to Fame, Press Your Luck and a 25th anniversary edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the summer, plus a new game show titled Lucky 13 and fresh episodes of Judge Steve Harvey. Renewal decisions on summer shows will likely come after their runs.
