The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith will no longer be part of the Celebrity spin-off series.

A spokesperson from Love Productions, which makes the show, told Digital Spy: "Prue will be joining Paul [Hollywood] as usual to judge The Great British Bake Off, but will be stepping back from The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer."

Digital Spy understands that the latest main series, featuring both Prue and Paul as judges, won't be filmed until later this year. The next celebrity series, which will not feature Prue, will be filmed after that.

The current celebrity series, featuring Prue and Paul alongside co-hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, starts this weekend.

Prue joined Bake Off when the show moved from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017, joining Hollywood, Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

After three years, Sandi herself stepped down, and in an interview just two months ago, explained that she left because she "stopped having fun", and that she felt her brain was "atrophying" while "watching meringues dry".

In response, Prue said that she didn't think Sandi was actually bored, and was more just making a joke.

"I don't think Sandi was so bored because she and I shared a wonderful green room in this posh house, which was where we filmed Bake Off and which was in the library," Prue said.

"And so we had this wonderful selection of books and she would knit little figures and dress them beautifully... So she made lots of those. She wrote a few scripts. She did a lot of other things.

"I mean, I can see that for some people as clever as Sandi, watching meringue dry is perhaps a bit heavy, but I think she just liked the joke. I don't think she was really bored."

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer returns on Sunday, March 17 at 7.40pm.
