People queued up for free bakery products today (Thursday, June 27) at the grand opening of a brand new business in Leicester city centre. Fresh Bake, in Haymarket, boasts fresh treats prepared on site, including sausage rolls, pies, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks.

Staff stood at the doors offering shoppers in the city centre free samples from the bakery, which has a familiar colour scheme. One member of the public said: "It's a carbon copy of Greggs.

"It's next to the Clock Tower, just a few doors down from Greggs itself. Greggs can surely expect some competition."

The bakery is in the unit at 10-12 Haymarket that was previously the Super Saver discount store. The space has also been home to The Depot and a Just Bargains.

On their YouTube page, the owners of the new bakery said: "Fresh Bake, Leicester city's newest bakery, is located right in the bustling city centre.

"Whether you're a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian, they have delicious options to satisfy every craving, all freshly prepared right in their shop.

"They serve you a delightful range of pies, sandwiches, pastries, cakes, sausage rolls, croissants, and both hot and cold drinks. Before their grand opening, Fresh Bake invited the community to sample their offerings for free and the response was overwhelming.

"People were excitedly queuing up to taste the delicious products. They are ready to welcome everyone to experience the freshness and quality of Fresh Bake."
