A gang of balaclava-clad off-road bikers were "wreaked havoc" at a Scots beauty spot leaving locals "scared".

The motorists were filmed riding bikes around the Meadows in Edinburgh on Saturday before reportedly 'shouting at children' and pulling wheelies. Locals called in the police who arrived after the gang fled.

An eyewitness has hit out at the "pathetic" act and said it was "horrible to see". A video shows the gang wearing balaclavas before they are seen ripping through the park on the bikes.

It shows them pulling wheelies and narrowly missing members of the public who are sitting nearby.

One eyewitness told our sister title, Edinburgh Live: "A biker gang were causing havoc in the meadows yesterday. Doing wheelies, shouting abuse, wearing balaclavas and scaring children. It was really pathetic, the police arrived later on but it was too late.

"This was around 1pm and the police came an hour later but they were well aware. Folk were so shocked and scared. There were just the two that I saw but it was really horrible to see and is ruining Edinburgh."

The popular beauty spot was awash with sun worshipers on Saturday with the warm temperatures bringing hundreds of locals to the park as several groups can be seen watching on as the masked bikers ride around before fleeing the scene.

Police Scotland was approached for comment by our sister title regarding the incident.
