In the world of domestic chores, tackling a grimy oven can feel like an arduous task thats often on par with drawing the short straw. It requires a significant amount of elbow grease and can be quite disheartening when vigorous scrubbing yields no results.

However, followers of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have proposed an alternative method to banish those stubborn stains. A plea for help was posted in the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips group on Facebook by someone burdened with a particularly stained oven they asked: "Keen on getting this clean. What products should I use?" This query sparked a flurry of suggestions from the community.

While some members recommended trusted standbys like Oven Pride and Pink Stuff, several other Hinching enthusiasts highlighted an ingenious trick: deploying a dishwasher tablet. A hint of genius came from a woman who advised, "Use a dishwasher tablet on the glass with hot water I did this and it came up like new. Wear rubber gloves though."

Not to mention, dishwasher tablets are a steal at Morrisons, priced at £1.99 for a pack that equates to mere pennies per usage, reports the Mirror.

She further claimed that her oven was once covered in grime but reassured that it only took her "10 minutes" to restore it to its original gleaming state.

She detailed her technique, saying: "I dip it in so it's wet, then I rub it about and it kind of dissolves and I add more water but just a little bit so it makes like a paste. I use like the little rectangle powder ones, not a liquid one. Hope that makes sense. I own a cleaning company and find it the best way."

For those struggling with dirty oven racks, she also offered a tip: "soak them overnight in the bag with a towel under it on the draining board next to the sink, or even soak them for a few hours if you can't do overnight."

The dishwasher tablet method has other advocates too, with one person commenting: "Rub a cheap dishwasher tablet in with a drop of water and leave for a bit. Might have to do a couple of times but it works."

Another concurred: "A dishwasher tablet, I did mine last night and couldn't believe that it actually worked. Looks as good as new."
