As the summer holidays approach, you may be thinking about your next holiday – and there are some important dates to remember.
The August bank holiday, or summer bank holiday, is also just around the corner, giving a long weekend at the end of August. Here are all the bank holidays you should note in 2022.
When is the August bank holiday 2022?
This year, the summer bank holiday, or August bank holiday, falls on Monday, August 29. It gives everyone a chance to enjoy the last of summer holidays before a continuous work schedule until Christmas starts.
What bank holidays took place for the Queen’s Jubilee and is there an extra day?
In celebration of the Queen’s 70th year as monarch, bank holidays have been rearranged to allow for four consecutive days of celebration.
This means the late May bank holiday will be replaced with a day off on Thursday, June 2 and an additional bank holiday on Friday, June 3.
What happened for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee?
June saw four days of public events including free access to the Sandringham and Balmoral private estates, the Queen’s Birthday Parade, Trooping the Colour (June 2), a service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral (June 3), an all-star Platinum Party at the Palace (June 4) and on the final day the Big Jubilee Lunch (June 5).
Initiatives that will leave a longer-lasting memory of the anniversary include the announcement of the winning commemorative dessert of the Platinum Pudding competition and the Green Canopy initiative, which will plant new trees to gift the Queen at the end of the year.
