As the confetti settles from the new year you may already be thinking about your next holiday – and there are some important dates to remember.
Here are all the bank holidays you should note in 2022.
When should I book time off at Easter?
As always Good Friday falls on the first Friday after the full moon, which this year falls on April 1, followed by Easter Sunday April 17 and Easter Monday April 18. This turns the holiday into a regular four-day weekend.
If you book April off April 19-22 you could bank 10 days off with just four days leave.
What bank holidays are planned for the Queen’s Jubilee and is there an extra day?
In celebration of the Queen’s 70th year as monarch, bank holidays have been rearranged to allow for four consecutive days of celebration.
This means the late May bank holiday will be replaced with a day off on Thursday June 2 and an additional bank holiday on Friday June 3.
What is planned for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee?
June will see four days of public events including free access to the Sandringham and Balmoral private estates, the Queen’s Birthday Parade, Trooping the Colour (June 2), a service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral (June 3), an all-star Platinum Party at the Palace (June 4) and on the final day the Big Jubilee Lunch (June 5).
Initiatives that will leave a longer-lasting memory of the anniversary include the announcement of the winning commemorative dessert of the Platinum Pudding competition and the Green Canopy initiative, which will plant new trees to gift the Queen at the end of the year.
