Yahoo News ‘Barbie The Movie: In Concert’ Coming to the Hollywood Bowl This Summer
The Hollywood Bowl is saying, “Hi Barbie!”
Mattel announced on Thursday that live-to-film concert experience Barbie The Movie: In Concert is coming to the Bowl on July 27. The hit film will be brought to life with live music from The Barbie Land Sinfonietta, a special presentation from executive producer and orchestrator Macy Schmidt’s all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra.

The event will see Barbie projected onto a giant LED screen above The Barbie Land Sinfonietta as they perform alongside the film’s award-winning score while conducted by Schmidt, who recently became the first woman of color orchestrator in Broadway history.
The event will also feature specialty limited-edition merchandise and photo opportunities. Subscription packages are now on the Hollywood Bowl’s website, and single tickets go on sale May 7.
“Audiences of all ages flocked to theaters last summer to celebrate the joy of the Barbie movie together. Now fans have the opportunity to further celebrate Barbie with an unforgettable live musical experience, led by an incredibly talented all-women orchestra,” Mattel chief franchise officer Josh Silverman said in a statement.
The concert will join the Hollywood Bowl’s summer 2024 lineup, which will kick off in June with a 100th birthday celebration for 20-time Grammy winner Henry Mancini. Special holiday performances will include events for Juneteenth, with T-Pain and special guests, and the July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with Harry Connick Jr.
Boyz II Men, Mitski and Beck will also take the Bowl stage this summer, along with the very first West Coast Roots Picnic, a tribute to hip-hop, with The Roots, Queen Latifah, Common, Digable Planets, Arrested Development, The Pharcyde and Black Sheep.
The season will additionally include the world debut of Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga Concert Experience. Conducted by LA Phil music and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel, the concert will transport audiences on a cinematic journey through the franchise’s first 23 films, weaving together the characters of the Marvel universe into one story from an all-new perspective.
