Barbie star Issa Rae has announced the cancellation of comedy series Rap Sh!t at Max after two seasons.
Rap Sh!t starred Aida Osman and KaMillion as struggling rappers Shawna Clark and Mia Knight. It was created by Rae alongside showrunner Syreeta Singleton, airing its first season in 2022 and its second in 2023.
However, as reported by Variety, it will not return for a third season on the streaming service.
Rae said in a statement: "I'm so proud of and grateful for Syreeta, our cast, writers and crew that made this show possible.
"Thanks to Sarah Aubrey and Suzanna Makkos for championing the show, and much love to the fans that tuned in weekly to root for our girls."
Singleton added: "I love this show and I am so proud of the work we've done. We created something fun, raw, and original and we did it our way!
"I will forever be grateful to Issa, our incredible cast, the amazing writers and crew that made this show possible. And so grateful to Max for giving us the chance to bring Rap Sh!t to the screen."
Singleton also shared a video of behind-the-scenes highlights from the making of Rap Sh!t's second season on Instagram, writing: "A real ass group of people. The best writers' room ever.
"I will cherish this experience forever and ever. #seduceandscheme for life."
Both seasons of Rap Sh!t debuted to a 100% approval rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
It was produced by Rae's production company, Hoorae – the musical arm of which (Raedio) helped curate the soundtrack for the show.
Rap Sh!t aired on Max in the US.
