Barnaby Webber’s mother blasts ‘disrespectful’ Nottingham police officer after graphic WhatsApp messages
The mother of Barnaby Webber, who was stabbed to death in the Nottingham attacks, has said the police officer who posted graphic details of the victim’s injuries is “desensitised and disrespectful”.
Mrs Webber has written an open letter to the Nottinghamshire Police officer after a message was posted in a WhatsApp group describing her son as being “properly butchered”.
Barnaby, along with Grace O’Malley-Kumar, 19, and school caretaker Ian Coates, 65, was stabbed to death by Valdo Calocane.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (24 April), Mrs Webber spoke more about her decision to write the letter.
Nottinghamshire Police is being investigated by both the police watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and the College of Policing after coming under fire over its handling of the case.
A force spokesman said: “All hearings relating to police staff misconduct are held in private. It would be inappropriate to comment further due to the ongoing independent investigation by the IOPC and the review by the College of Policing.”
