Baseball Coach Cleverly Uses Team's Cell Phones as Incentive to Improve Footwork

A clever baseball coach in a Chicago suburb devised a method to ensure his player’s were consistently stepping on the correct part of the base, or bag, by putting their phones on the line.

Pete Flores of Rake City Baseball, in Countryside, Illinois, created the method and captured this video. He told Storyful the players “were not being detail-oriented enough, so I took something that was special to them to make them focus a little bit more.”

He said the players “giggled for a minute and went right back to work.”

The footage was captured in September 2021, but recently went viral after ESPN posted it to TikTok, where it has received 1.4 million views so far. Credit: Rake City Baseball via Storyful
