An award-winning musical featuring the greatest hits of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman is coming to Plymouth. Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical will stop at Theatre Royal Plymouth as part of a major UK tour.

The show previously toured the UK and Ireland and internationally between 2021 and 2023. Inspired by an arena tour of Australia and New Zealand, producers say the reimagined show promises to be a "thrilling experience", featuring an eight-piece rock band on stage.

They said it will also have "multi-level platforms" that will transport audiences through the diverse worlds of the Bat Out of Hell theatrical world - from Raven’s bedroom to the depths of the Lost’s underground domains. Returning to the cast are Glenn Adamson, Katie Tonkinson and original leading cast members Rob Fowler and Sharon Sexton.

Bat Out of Hell became one of the best-selling albums in history, selling over 68 million copies worldwide. Sixteen years after the release of the original album, Steinman scored again with Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, which contained the massive hit I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).

For the stage musical, Steinman incorporated songs from the Bat Out of Hell albums, including You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, Bat Out of Hell, I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) and Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad, as well as previously unreleased song What Part of My Body Hurts the Most.

The musical won the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and was nominated for eight WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical.

Bat Out of Hell - The Musical comes to Theatre Royal Plymouth from May 12-17, 2025. Tickets will go on sale soon.
