Batman Unmasked exhibition will open in Manchester over the summer

A huge new exhibition dedicated to superhero Batman is to open in Manchester this summer. The Batman Unmasked event will offer fans the opportunity to "experience the cinematic world of Batman like never before".

The exhibition is described as a journey through an elaborate collection of Batman items from the famous Warner Bros. archives.

Fans willl get to explore an extensive collection of original props and costumes from Warner Bros. films about the superhero, from the original Batman movie in 1989 where Michael Keaton starred as the Caped crusader, through to the most recent outing, The Batman in 2022, where Robert Pattinson took on the iconic role.

The attraction will open its doors at Depot Mayfield in Manchester on 16 July, running right through until 26 August. It will then head to London’s Covent Garden from 6 September through to 3 November.

The experience brings the cinemetic world of Batman to UK fans in celebration of DC’s Caped Crusader’s 85th anniversary throughout 2024.

Navigating through a series of themed rooms, visitors will venture into the fictional world of Gotham City. Guests will take in the awe-inspiring Batsuits worn by iconic actors including Robert Pattinson, Christian Bale and Michael Keaton, alongside original props and memorabilia.

In each city there will be a selection of original vehicles on display including the Tumbler and Batpod from “The Dark Knight” (2008), and the Batmobile and Batcycle from “The Batman” (2022).

Captivating Batman fans of all ages, Batman Unmasked will take guests on a thrilling journey through the Caped Crusader’s legendary history in film with props from films “Batman” (1989), “Batman Forever” (1995), “Batman & Robin” (1997), “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008), “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), “Justice League” (2017), “Joker” (2019) and “The Batman” (2022).

Travelling through walkways inspired by the various criminals of Gotham City, guests will arrive at The Rogue’s Gallery – billed as a dark and mysterious space devoted to the DC Super-Villains Batman has faced through the years. It will include an array of suits, props and weapons like Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy ensemble, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn costume, Jim Carrey’s Riddler outfit and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze suit.

Ahead of The Joker returning to the big screen this year in “Joker: Folie A Deux”, fans will also be able to see the red suit worn by Joaquin Phoenix in “Joker” and the infamous nurses uniform worn by Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight.”

Throughout the Batman Unmasked experience, younger fans will also be able to explore the space and find hidden facts and will be able to capture the moment and remembering the day forever with several photo opportunities.

At the end of the experience, guests will be able to enjoy a free-flow comic book and gaming area. There will also be the chance to purchase exclusive Batman Unmasked merchandise at the retail store including special Batman 85th Anniversary items alongside classic Batman items.

How to get tickets

A waiting list for tickets will go live today which you can sign up for to get priority access. Tickets then go on general sale from June 13.

Ticket prices will include discounted concession rates as well as savings for small groups of 4 or larger groups of 10. Further info on pricing will be announced soon.
