ITV's six-part beachside thriller The Bay came to an end tonight (April 24), but many fans appear to be underwhelmed by the final scenes.

Ever since its announcement, The Bay has drawn comparisons to the David Tennant and Olivia Colman drama Broadchurch, but this show offered a driven, seething turn from Jonas Armstrong and an angsty role for Morven Christie to get her teeth into.

Viewers stuck by it over the weeks, but now it seems that the drama didn't quite cut the mustard for some.

As the real killer of Dylan was finally unmasked by Christie's Lisa Armstrong, other characters were also staring at more prison time for various crimes - including Armstrong's Sean Meredith who'd got involved with drugs throughout the series to provide for his family (he's now tied up with a potential eight-year stint behind bars).

Lisa was working illegally at the time, too, for previously concealing police evidence during the investigation; this episode ended with her still suspended from the force.

But although many storylines came to some form of closure, social media users have reacted through a disappointed chorus of posts.

However, this might not actually be the end for The Bay, as you get the feeling that there's still stories to be told in this world.

The Bay aired on ITV.
