BBC The Apprentice viewers baffled by problem as Lord Sugar crowns this season's winner

The Apprentice viewers were shocked as Lord Alan Sugar crowned this season's winner.

Thursday marked the series finale of the latest season of the popular BBC programme. Phil Turner and Rachel Woolford were the remaining candidates aiming to become Lord Sugar's business partner in tonight's episode.

The last episode saw the two pitch their business ideas in one final attempt to impress Lord Sugar. Rachel pitched her gym chain Studio Build, while Phil made the case for his Prestige Pies company.

The former Tottenham Hotspur owner struggled to make a decision as he admitted both finalists were credible candidates to receive the investment to expand their businesses. However, the 77-year-old eventually opted to go for Rachel as she claimed to have already made £250,000 from the boutique gyms.

However, some fans following the show on social media platform X were frustrated at the result as last season's winner, Marnie Swindells, also owned a gym. Sab said: "Pies by post/Turners Pies is a much better business than yet another gym with nothing particularly unique about it…sorry"

Chris added: "So next series basically just have 18 gym proposals" Bainseh commented: "2 years in a row someone with a gym has won"
