One item stole the show on Bargain Hunt - and nobody saw it coming.

Nurse Joe and his wife, Mhari, appeared on the popular BBC programme where teams scour antiques fair and car boot sales for profitable items waiting to be found. At the start of the show, Mhari admitted that she's learnt all she has about antiques from Bargain Hunt.

As part of their challenge, the couple were tasked with finding something that had a link to horses. They scooped up a quaint little clock that also checked their "big spend" box after costing them £99. Under the hammer, it staggered and only sold for £50.

After the disappointment of a £49 loss, the host Charlie Ross joked the cast iron toilet roll holder they found has "got to fly now". And it appears he manifested success.

The £15 item did exactly that, much to the surprise of everyone watching. Joe said "no way" and his wife sales and marketing director Mhari shouted "come on".

The auctioneer joked they were "on a real roll" as the bids kept flying in - climbing quickly to £32. Joe turned to his wife and asked "you're joking" and "they've gone mad" as the hammer dropped.

The interest helped make a reasonable recovery from their clock loss. And the profit continued with a set of six ornate buttons that were snapped up for £49 and sold on for £110.

The couple were convinced to take a gamble as expert John Cameron showed off his find of an ornate inkwell shaped like a stove that he paid £40 for it. Under the hammer, it went for £30 which took £10 away from their profit but didn't send them into the negatives which meant the blues claimed the overall victory.
