Weather experts at the BBC and Met Office have given their predictions as temperatures start to cool in Liverpool this week.

After a scorching weekend, temperatures dip slightly with some intervals of rain. We can expect highs of 19C in the city and other parts of Merseyside today (May 13) but things should feel a bit cooler thanks to the rain.

The BBC reports these highs will remain in place throughout the week, not dropping below 17C while the Met Office predicts slightly cooler maximum temperatures of 15C at the weekend.

BBC experts predict highs of 18C and light drizzle on Friday and Saturday. The Met Office forecast paints a slightly different picture, with maximum temperatures of 15C on these days, with "overcast" conditions on Saturday.

However both forecasters seem to be in agreement that the chances of on-and-off rain will continue throughout the week, up to Monday, May 20.

The Met Office outlook for Wednesday-Friday reads: "Unsettled with sunny spells and showers. Showers may be heavy and possibly thundery at times. Still warm where you catch the sunshine though feeling cooler than last week."

And the BBC's outlook for the same period reads: "Wednesday is expected to see a mixture of sunny spells, patchy cloud, and the odd shower. A few mist and fog patches on Thursday morning, with cloud then soon developing from the east bringing spells of rain.

"Winds easing away. Early cloud on Friday will break up to leave sunny spells, along with a few scattered showers developing."
