The One Show viewers lost patience with Roman Kemp during the episode that aired on Thursday, July 11, as they grew weary of his constant references to the Euro 2024 semi-final.

The BBC staple saw Roman return to presenting duties alongside Alex Jones where they introduced a pre-recorded chat with Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Later in the show, the presenters were joined by Jenna Coleman to discuss her new role in BBC's The Jetty, but throughout the episode, Roman kept going back to England's recent success in football.

England experienced a spectacular win against the Netherlands on Wednesday, July 10, securing their spot in the final on Sunday, July 14 against Spain.

When Jenna appeared, who is not as keen on football, Alex had to remind her that Roman was "obviously barely alive" with anticipation. Meanwhile, Roman leapt from his seat to re-live Ollie Watkins' decisive last-minute goal that clinched England's victory over the Netherlands.

Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, BBC One viewers had reached their limit with the relentless references to Euro 2024. "Fed up on #Theoneshow Football did come home when the women won it. Still no gender equality. VERY disappointing", vented a disgruntled TV fan.

Another voiced their exasperation and said: "Have we not had enough of the football hype for a while? Give it a rest please. It's getting boring", as yet another shared their sentiment, adding: "BBC The One Show Would you PLEASE stop boring on about football!"
