The BBC has responded to an inaccuracy viewers spotted in a recent episode of Antiques Roadshow.

Special Antiques Roadshow: D-Day commemorated the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings of 1944, and was filmed in Normandy and Portsmouth with veteran Ken Cooke as a guest.

The episode saw the key Second World War event commemorated through a series of artefacts brought in by visitors and showcased in museum, but an incorrect map caught the eye of viewers at home.

A map showing the direction of travel of D-Day troops incorrectly marked the south coast town of Weymouth, appearing to confuse it with Poole, located 30 miles away.

The error was promptly pointed out by viewers, with the BBC acknowledging the inaccuracy and confirming it has been amended in a statement (via RadioTimes.com).

"A graphic recreation of a wartime map incorrectly positioned the town of Weymouth. This has been corrected for future broadcasts," a spokesperson said.

Last month, the BBC confirmed the future of three antiques shows, announcing that Antiques Road Trip and its sister series Celebrity Antiques Road Trip will be back for season 29 and 13, respectively. Additionally, The Travelling Auctioneers, which first aired two years ago, will return for a third season.

"Get ready for a treasure trove of entertainment! With their long track record, we're thrilled to be working with STV Studios on these returning hit series," commented Muslim Alim, the BBC's commissioning editor for Daytime and Early Peak.

"All three of them promise to deliver more riveting journeys from across the UK as experts hunt for, restore, and auction off unique finds."

"I'm delighted with the ongoing success of these returning STV Studios formats," Craig Hunter, STV Studios' creative director of Factual, added.

"This order is a testament to the BBC's commitment to the Nations, and I couldn't be prouder of the hard-working teams that continue to deliver a fresh twist on these much-loved brands."

Antiques Roadshow is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
