BBC announces schedule changes for 'Ghosts', 'Bloodlands' and more

Ghosts, Bloodlands and other new series launches have had their new air dates announced by BBC One after schedule changes made because of the Queen's death.

Broadcasters have had to make last-minute changes to their programming plans to make room for rolling news coverage about the Queen's death and in the lead up to her state funeral on Monday, 19 September.

The BBC has revealed its plans for new air times and dates for a number of series launches that were lined up for September.

Sitcom Ghosts, heading into its fourth season, is due to air on BBC One on Friday, 23 September at 8.50pm, 20 minutes later than originally planned as it will immediately follow the launch of Strictly Come Dancing, which has been bumped by nearly a week.

On Tuesday, the BBC announced that Strictly's launch episode would no longer take place on Saturday, 17 September as planned and would instead move to the following Friday, with the first live show then airing as planned the next night on Saturday, 24 September.

Also beginning on Friday, 23 September is Daisy May Cooper's new sitcom Am I Being Unreasonable?, which will air at 9.50pm - being pushed back by 20 minutes, too.

Thriller Bloodlands debuts its second series with James Nesbitt returning in the lead role of DCI Tom Brannick on Sunday, 18 September but has been pushed back by five minutes to 9.05pm.

It follows the second episode of Frozen Planet II in the schedules, also pushed back by five minutes, because BBC One will be airing a national minute's silence for the Queen at 8pm.

Major new Keeley Hawes series Crossfire was due to begin on Monday, but the entire day's schedules have been cleared to make way for funeral coverage.

Instead, the three-episode series will air from Tuesday, 20 September to Thursday, 22 September at 9pm each night.

Crossfire, the first TV series from Apple Tree Yard author Louise Doughty, sees Hawes' character on a dream holiday in the Canary Islands when gunshots ring out across the hotel complex, forcing tourists and staff to make split-second decisions with huge consequences.

BBC One also announced the rescheduling of Celebrity MasterChef on Tuesday, confirming that the semi-final episodes that had been pulled after the Queen's death would air back-to-back on Thursday from 8.30pm.

Finals week, originally scheduled for this week, will air episodes on Friday, Tuesday, and then culminate in the grand final on Thursday, 22 September at 8.30pm.
