BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood melts hearts with sweet baby update after surgery

Craig Revel Horwood has melted fans' hearts as he shared a sweet baby update after revealing he's undergone an unusual surgery. The Strictly Come Dancing judge was seen letting his hair down over the weekend as he celebrated the birthday of Sara Davies.

The Dragons' Den star recently turned 40 and after a Dubai holiday to mark the occasion with her husband Simon, the businesswoman and TV star returned to the North East and was joined by a few familiar faces as she hosted a festival-themed party to mark her special milestone birthday.

As well as Craig, Sara has become close friends with Janette Manrara after she was partnered with her husband Aljaz Skorjanec in the 2021 series of Strictly and so the pair headed to celebrate their friend with their daughter, Lyra Rose, with Strictly and Great British Bake Off's John Waite and presenters Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton also in attendance.

And it appears Craig made a new friend while at the bash in the former of Janette and Aljaz's baby girl. As he soaked up the birthday celebrations, the 59-year-old was seen sporting a pair of daisy-rimmed and a string of purple necklaces as he cradled nine month old Lyra. "Best festival accessory money can buy. What a little dreamboat," he wrote as they adorably sported matching glasses.

He then later took to his main Instagram gird with a photo of himself and Lyra and said: "Happy Birthday and thank you to the Fab-U-Lous @saradaviescc for the amazing 40th birthday party, post-party breakfast and the chance to hang out with my new little bestie again! What a lovely weekend with amazing people up in the #northeast of England."

Janette was quick to respond, writing: "I love this so much!!!!" before fans rushed to respond to seeing 'Uncle Craig' as opposed to his stern judging persona on the ballroom's judging panel.

It comes after Janette took to her Instagram Story and shared a video of Craig with Lyra on his lap as they watched some children's TV with the dancing star singing and moving along. "I cannot get over how cute these two were this weekend," Janette said.

The mum-of-one, who hosts Strictly's It Takes Two, then later shared a video in which she spoke to the camera about the celebrations, saying: "We went to celebrate Sara's 40th birthday at her birthday festival and oh my God what an amazing night. There was so much love for her there and truly, truly deserving. She's one of the most incredible women that I know, so kind and caring but smart and just yeah, I'm really inspired by her and who she is and what she's about.

"So was really grateful that we got to spend the weekend with her and it was Lyra's first ever festive. I mean, she looked so epic. She wore matching sunglasses with Craig! That wasn't even planned and the most beautiful part of it was the two of them, they became like besties over the weekend. She loved him and he loved her. It was so cute!"

Meanwhile, Craig has had surgery on both feet to rectify issues caused from "wearing high heels all my life and dancing in them". Craig had his toes “flattened” last month ready for his appearance in The Wizard of Oz, which starts at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on May 28.

He said to Ireland’s Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty: "It is a dance injury. My little toes got all squashed up and I had a procedure to flatten them out. It is for dancing as I was getting terrible wounds from these nasty bunions, dear."
