Giovanni Pernice has admitted to 'worry' and 'anxiety' as he opened up about his personal life away from his dancing career. The dancer is ploughing on with his work commitments despite losing his role on Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC confirmed the professional dancer line-up for the upcoming 2024 series last month (June) which didn't include the Italian dancer. It was confirmed that the dance contest's 2023 winner Vito Coppola and fellow pro Amy Dowden, who returns to the show after being unable to compete last year after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, were among those returning to the show this autumn.

Notably, Giovanni, who first joined Strictly in 2015, was not among the names confirmed. The news came as Giovanni has been subject to a number of allegations regarding his conduct in the training room which he strongly rejects.

But away from the claims surrounding his exit from the hit dance contest, in a new social media update, Giovanni has revealed that he is working with the police due to his own links to the occupation back in Italy.

In an Instagram Story on Wednesday (July 4), the 33-year-old shared news of his involvement with this year’s Police Bravery Awards. "As the proud son of a police officer in Sicily, I am extremely humbled to be associated with the Police Federation of England & Wales and the 2024 #PoliceBravery Awards taking place next week," he told his fans and followers.

He then explained that the event would celebrate: "The extraordinary acts of courage carried out by over 100 police officers (and a police dog!)"

He continued: "I know from personal experience a little of the worries and stresses that police families go through every single day. And, after the event, I will be sharing a little more of the personal message I have been asked to give all the nominees."

Giovanni finished by saying: "To all the officers receiving recognition, know that your bravery writes the stories of hope for our future generations. So as a family member of one of your own. And with the utmost respect and admiration. I say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!"
