BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Rose Ayling Ellis 'so excited' as she returns to TV in major new role

Rose Ayling Ellis has said she is "so excited" as she landed a huge, major new role with the BBC. The Strictly Come Dancing winner, who won the Glitterball Trophy back in 2021 after shooting to fame on EastEnders, spoke out on Instagram.

She typed: "I’m so excited to be joining William Mager’s Reunion and to be working alongside such a talented cast, whose work I have long admired. It is a very special project and an important moment for the deaf community's representation on TV"

In reply, a fan said: "Rose can’t wait to watch it you won the hearts of the nation and we all still love you just keep following that heart girl you are such a inspiration to the deaf community and a beautiful actress too xx."

"What a wonderful representative for the Deaf you are. Good job Rose," a second said. Matthew Gurney, Lara Peake, Anne-Marie Duff, Eddie Marsan and Rose complete the cast for the upcoming four-part series on the Beeb, the BBC has said.

Duff says: “I am genuinely thrilled to be a part of this very exciting production. It is rare to witness a narrative where the audience is taken on a journey with a very different set of senses. It’s about our need to acknowledge each other’s truths- both inside our own families and beyond. The team is so extraordinary. I feel very honoured to be rubbing shoulders with them”.

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, says: “It’s no surprise that William Mager’s layered, intelligent and utterly compelling scripts have attracted a cast and crew of such exceptional calibre to bring this story to the BBC. A thriller like no other, this is a reunion you won’t want to miss”.

Reunion is now filming in Yorkshire and is produced by Sheffield-based Warp Films and supported by Screen Yorkshire for BBC One and iPlayer.
