The BBC has teased a first look at brand new drama The Jetty. The four-part mystery follows the inhabitants of the eerie lakeside town where an arson, missing persons cold case and an illicit triangle are intricately intertwined.

Jenna Coleman, known for her roles in Doctor Who, The Cry, and The Serpent, stars as Detective Ember Manning who must work out how a fire connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case. Filmed in and around Lancashire, the BBC says The Jetty will "examine sexual morality, age of consent, grooming, identity and memory."

Written and created by Cat Jones and produced by Firebird Pictures, The Jetty has a star-studded cast list including actors from Doctor Who, House of Dragons, Shadow and Bone and Happy Valley. Starring alongside Jenna is Tom Glynn-Carney (House of the Dragon, SAS Rogue Heroes, Dunkirk), Ruby Stokes (Lockwood & Co., Rocks, Una), Archie Renaux (The Greatest Beer Run, Shadow and Bone, Romulus), and Laura Marcus (The Great Escaper, Bad Education, The Serpent Queen).

A synopsis reads: "When a fire tears through a property in a scenic Lancashire lake town, Detective Ember Manning (Jenna Coleman) must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls.

"But as Ember gets close to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life – forcing her to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her past, present and the town she’s always called home. As much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller, The Jetty asks big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that Me Too has left behind."

Filming has wrapped and the series will launch soon on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
