Outnumbered fans are thrilled as it has been confirmed the BBC sitcom will return.

The final episode of the comedy show starring Hugh Dennis aired eight years ago. However, we will once again be able to catch up with the Brockmans at Christmas when the show returns for a festive special.

The episode will be penned by Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton as the story will show how the family have changed in the years since the programme was last on TV. Mock the Week legend Hugh said: "I can’t wait for the Brockmans to be back together again. Pete and Sue have downsized, the children are no longer children, but I’m sure family life will prove to be just as chaotic as ever."

We're so grateful to Guy, Andy, Hattrick, and the cast for dusting it off and putting it back on display.”

Outnumbered viewers on social media are thrilled with the announcement. Jacob said: "OMG #Outnumbered is coming back for Christmas"
