Nuneaton was once again the focus of national attention as BBC1's Breakfast Show filmed live in the town centre. Presenter Nina Warhurst was at Saints in Newdegate Street this morning, June 18, explaining the town was key to deciding who would 'get the keys to Downing Street'.

Sections of the popular show were broadcast live from the cafe and community hub, with the presenter chatting to locals about their views on the General Election. It was a proud moment for Saints, which posted on Facebook:"What an incredible morning. The BBC Breakfast Show filmed live at Saints this morning, highlighting the great work we do while asking local people their views on the up-coming election.

"The Saints team did us proud and we were thrilled to represent Nuneaton on national TV."

The show also featured footage taken in the town centre on a market day with traders and business owners talking about issues they faced. One said 'yob culture' needed tackling while another spoke of the need for support for local, independent firms.

Nuneaton is fast becoming the go-to place when it comes to working out who will win the election. Famously, it has been a bell weather since then-Prime Minister and current foreign secretary Lord Cameron wrote in his memoirs that he knew the Conservatives had won power when the Nuneaton seat was declared in May 2015.

As a result, the day after this year's General Election was called, Good Morning Britain broadcast live from the town centre. Now the BBC has turned its attention to the town and its breakfast show focused on the views of locals with the General Election barely a fortnight away.

The TV crew were in Nuneaton hours before Labour deputy leader, Angela Rayner, brought the famous red battle bus to town.

It was greeted by placard-waving supporters lined up at Ambleside Sports Club and she too acknowledged the town's political prominence on the national political landscape, saying that if the party won Nuneaton, it would be a 'symbolic moment'.

Who is standing in Nuneaton in the General Election?

Marcus Jones is hoping to retain the seat he has held since 2010 for the Conservatives. But he will face competition from Labour candidate Jodie Gosling. Keith Kondakor is standing for the Green Party and Rob Howard is the Reform UK candidate.

Joy Salaja is standing for the Liberal Democrats and John Homer is standing for the Workers Party
