There's nothing quite like a summer's day walk along the Lincolnshire coast. Provided the weather isn't too scorching, your canine companion will also relish the chance to frolic on the sandy shores.

However, not all beaches welcome dogs. There are restrictions on some beaches and some stretches of certain beaches as to when you can and can't take your canine friends, , reports Lincolnshire Live.

Dog-friendly beaches in Lincolnshire

Chapel St Leonards

This beach, popular with swimmers, is a great spot to bring your dog this summer. With a mix of sand and shingle, it's also a walker's paradise as the beach extends for miles.

Dogs are permitted on the sand, but from September 1 to 30 they're banned from the 'central area' of the beach. If you're visiting with your dog during these dates, don't fret - the rest of the beach remains open to your pet.

Humberston Fitties

Fondly known as 'Fitties', this beach near Cleethorpes is perfect for a leisurely walk. From here, you can enjoy fantastic views of ships and boats departing the ports. Dogs are allowed on the beach throughout the year.

Ingoldmells South

This scenic beach near the resort town of the same name is also dog-friendly. Ingoldmells is home to Fantasy Island and its beach has recently been awarded blue flag status - a mark of quality for beaches.

Dogs are welcome on the sand all year round.

Moggs Eye

Also known as Huttoft Beach, Moggs Eye offers a tranquil stretch of sand away from the tourist crowds. The sandy coastline is perfect for building sand castles and is a hit with surfers and bird watchers alike.

There's also a variety of walks available at the beach, and dogs are welcome throughout the year.

Saltfleetby Theddlethorpe Dunes

Near Mablethorpe, this site never gets too crowded due to its size, even during the summer months.

With salt marshland and flat sand, the dunes offer a range of different habitats, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts. Dog walkers also frequent the beach as their pets are allowed all year round.

Dog restricted beaches in Lincolnshire

Anderby Creek

However, there are some beaches in Lincolnshire where dogs are restricted. Anderby Creek, a long sandy beach between Skegness and Mablethorpe, is popular with both tourists and locals.

But dog owners need to be cautious as pets are banned from part of the beach between May 1 and September 30. The restricted area extends 270 metres south of the pullover at Anderby Creek.

At Cleethorpes Beach, dogs are prohibited at all times. This rule has caught out a few dog walkers in the past, with one reviewer on 'the beach guide' website claiming he was fined after walking his dog 'near to the beach entrance'.

If you're in the area, it might be worth heading to Humberston Fitties with your dog instead.

Mablethorpe Town

Mablethorpe Town's golden beach is lovely to visit, but restrictions apply for those wishing to walk a dog. Between May 1 and September 30, dogs are not allowed on the central section of the sand.

During this period, there are designated areas where you can take your pet for a stroll.

Skegness

A popular choice among Lincolnshire tourists, Skegness Beach has stringent rules for dog owners. Their furry companions are not allowed between May 1 and September 30.

Outside of these dates, dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

Sutton-on-Sea

Much like the regulations in Skegness, this family-friendly beach also imposes strict rules on dog walking. Dogs are not permitted between May 1 and September 30.

Beyond these dates, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
