The second season of The Bear has secured a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The second run of the critically acclaimed comedy-drama has received rave reviews ahead of its release in the US later this week and on Disney+ next month in the UK.

The highly-anticipated follow-up is set to follow the Italian eatery as it transitions into a fine dining restaurant, and to heat things up, they only have six months to complete the rebrand and hire new staff.

Shameless star Jeremy Allen White returns as chef extraordinaire Carmy Berzatto, alongside his worthy apprentice Sydney Adamu (Big Mouth's Ayo Edebiri) and his cousin Richie Jerimovich (The Punisher's Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as the team work to reinvent their beloved eatery.

It will also introduce some new stars into the cast such as Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty star Molly Gordon.

The handful of critics who have taken a first look at the new season have praised the second outing for its pacing, as well as the poignant and powerful storylines.

Variety's review reads: "These storylines are impressive flexes, and winning nods to the show’s niche. But they also help The Bear feel more like television, a medium that rewards cultivating a deep bench and an adaptable approach."

Rolling Stone wrote: "It remains a magnificent achievement."

Meanwhile, The Playlist shared: "Another poignant way for this heartfelt show to make us appreciate the pleasure of unforgettable food by matching it with pain from the process."

The Bear is available now on FX Networks and Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK. Season 2 premieres on June 22 on FX Networks in the US and July 19 on Disney+ in the UK.
