The Bear star Ebon Moss-Bachrach has said he sometimes struggles with the attention he receives from fans of the show.

The actor stars alongside Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Lionel Boyce in the series about the staff at the titular restaurant.

The show has proved a runaway hit, winning Emmy and Golden Globe Awards as well as amassing a dedicated fanbase.

But the success of The Bear comes with its downfalls, with Ebon, who plays Richard 'Richie' Jerimovich, finding daily interactions from fans occasionally overwhelming, including being called "cousin" – coined by Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto across the two seasons.

"I get a lot of comments," he told The Guardian. "People yell 'Cousin!' at me all day. Sometimes, you know, you’re just not having a great day. And it’s just like, 'I’m sorry, man, I don’t have much for you'."

He also shared how he thinks the success of The Bear has warped people's perceptions of his career, with the actor starring in Girls, The Punisher, and John Adams ahead of the comedy-drama.

"There’s a convenient narrative I find myself trying to resist that people often like to imprint, that’s like, I’ve been waiting in the wings or something," he continued.

"And that’s just kind of romantic and stupid and oversimplified. I mean, I’ve been, in my mind, pretty successful. I don’t know what percentage of my union works, but it’s very small. And yeah, I’ve never had anything connect like The Bear, but I’ve been fine."

The third season of the show is just a week away, and will follow the disastrous events of season 2 in which we left off on the opening night of Carmy's revamped restaurant.

On the eatery's most important night, Carmy accidentally locks himself in the walk-in fridge and inadvertently destroys his relationship with Claire after she hears him ranting about mistakenly believing he could balance Michelin life with a relationship.

The Bear season 3 airs on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK on June 27. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now.
