Holidaymakers are urged to consider Bulgaria this summer, with the country boasting warm temperatures, tasty food and sandy beaches for a fraction of the price in other European spots. When it comes to the summer holidays, everyone knows that Spain and Greece are among the top places for a great break, but there are other beach holiday destinations, too.

East Midlands Airport is reminding people about the beauty of Bulgaria as it approaches its 40th year of working with Balkan Holidays. Every Sunday this year the airport has a flight to Burgas on the Black Sea coast, which has easy access to long sandy beaches and a choice of resorts.

Bulgaria is on the border of Greece and Turkey, and, like these destinations, it has sunny weather with summer temperatures around the late twenties to mid-thirties Celsius. However, the main highlight of holidaying here is the price, as Bulgaria is cheaper then almost all of the other European holiday destinations, with lower costs for eating, drinking and other expenses.

EMA’s Commercial Director Chris Lane said: “People have been enjoying flying to Bulgaria from East Midlands Airport with Balkan Holidays for many years, but for some, it may not be a destination they have considered. With many hotels built or modernised in the last few years, a range of different resorts to choose from, warm sun and low-cost flights and prices for holiday expenses, Bulgaria has a lot going for it for our customers.”

It's just a three-and-a-half-hour flight to Bulgaria from East Midlands Airport, and there are so many fantastic resorts for all tastes along the Black Sea coast. One of the largest resorts is Sunny Beach, which has a beach that stretches for 8kms around the bay, while nearby Nessebar is an ancient UNESCO protected village with cobbled streets and gabled houses.

Two Balkan Holidays deals for this year for seven nights in Sunny Beach are £257 per person for bed and breakfast at a three-star hotel from Jun 2 and £497 per person all-inclusive at a four-star hotel from Jun 9. These prices include 22kg luggage allowance and airport transfers.

Chris Rand of Balkan Holidays said: “We are the leading specialist tour operator to Bulgaria with a long history of flying from East Midlands Airport and a wide choice of hotels and apartments from great value two-star hotels to luxury four and five-star all-inclusive hotels, all perfect for a family holiday. Combine all this with the low cost of living in Bulgaria and you have the perfect beach holiday destination.”
