A five-mile circular route, beginning at Burscough Wharf, takes in sections of the historic Leeds and Liverpool Canal and quiet country lanes, making it ideal for families. Burscough Wharf also boasts an array of retail, leisure, independent arts, craft and hobby shops if you fancy heading off the beaten track.

The area around this walking route has some of the flattest land in West Lancashire. Pretty cottages, nature reserves and quaint waterside pubs are just some of the things you can see along the way.

At the end of the walk is The Ship at Lathom, a traditional ‘Great British pub’ with a cosy environment and real log fires and is situated on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

For anyone just starting out on their regular walking adventures or simply searching for an excuse for a pint, Bursocugh Wharf won't disappoint.
