‘Beautiful’ mum, 36, dies suddenly as family pay tribute

The family of a tragic mum have said they will sorely miss her “infectious laugh and beaming smile”.

Katie Heffernan, from St Helens, died suddenly on Sunday, May 5, at the age of 36. The aesthetic practitioner and hairdresser leaves behind her daughter Nancy, who is four.

A family member told the ECHO: “Katie was a fun-loving girl who lit up a room with her infectious laugh and beaming smile. She was loved by so many people. We have been touched by all the condolences pouring out for her, she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.”

A crowdfunding page has been set up to raise funds for Katie’s daughter, Nancy, to ensure she "has something for her future".

It reads: “Our beautiful Katie Heffernan sadly passed away suddenly at the young age of 36 on the 5th of May 2024. As a family, we are all devastated by this sad loss. Katie was such a beautiful and kind person, who would do anything for anyone.

“Everyone who knows Katie knows she lived for her beautiful daughter Nancy, who is only four years old. Nancy was her absolute world and her very best friend. The purpose of this memorial page is for Nancy for her future and for memories to be shared of her mummy.”

Family flowers only have been requested for Katie's funeral, with other mourners and well-wishers requested to make a donation, if they are able.

The Crowdfunding page added: “We would like to ask that you print your photographs and write your memories of Katie for Nancy to read when she is older, so she can see just how much her mummy is loved and how much of an amazing person she is.”.
