'Beef' star Young Mazino joins ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2

Korean American actor Young Mazino has been tapped to star in the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us.”

About his role: Mazino will be playing Jesse, a “pillar of his community who puts everyone else’s needs before his own, sometimes at terrible cost,” as per Variety.

The “Beef” star is the latest actor to join the critically acclaimed HBO series, which includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and “Transformers” actor Isabela Merced as Dina.

What the series' creators are saying: Series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann praised Mazino in a statement by calling him one of the “rare actors who is immediately undeniable the moment you see him.”

“We’re so lucky to have him, and we can’t wait for the audience to see Young shine in our show,” Mazin and Druckmann added.

About Season 2: Starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as 14-year-old Ellie, “The Last of Us” Season 2 is set to begin production in February, with Vancouver as a shooting location. According to Deadline, the sequel game “The Last of Us Part II” was mostly set in the Pacific Northwest.
