Belfast has been named one of the best places in the UK for a city break in 2024 by Which?. The consumer website carried out a survey earlier this year to create a guide of the best large, medium-sized and small cities across the UK for your next staycation.

After asking almost 4000 members and receiving over 7000 responses, Belfast came in at number four on the 'Best large UK cities for a short break' list - coming behind only Liverpool, Edinburgh and York.

On why Belfast is one of the best places to check out in 2024, Which? said the NI capital proved a popular spot against some of the bigger names across the UK.

They said: "Belfast was the only Northern Irish city to feature but it proved popular with visitors - getting a score of 77%. One member said: ‘I think that it should attract more visitors than it currently does.’

"Another said it’s a ‘beautiful city, full of history, friendly people, very easy to get around, with lovely food at very reasonable prices and no ripping-off of tourists’."

The data was collected in April 2024 when 3,967 Which? members were asked to rate UK cities and towns they’d visited for leisure purposes and stayed in for at least one night in the past two years (since April 2022).

The cities were rated by looking at accommodation, cultural sites and tourist attractions, the ease of getting around, shopping and value for money.

Each city score was then based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the city as a holiday destination to a friend.
