Belfast North General Election 2024 results in full as Sinn Fein retain their seat

Voters across the Belfast North constituency have gone to the polls in the 2024 General Election and the constituency's 2024 MP has been declared.

Belfast North is a constituency with a nationalist majority. Historically, it had a narrow unionist majority, which has decreased over time. Those from a Catholic background (47%) now slightly outnumber those from a Protestant background (46%), according to the 2011 census.

Sinn Fein's John Finucane has retained his seat in the 2024 General Election with 17,674 votes. In the 2019 Westminster election, John Finucane won 47.1% of the vote and took the seat from the DUP's Nigel Dodds, who had been the MP for the area since 2001, and received a vote share of 43.1%.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK are expected in the early hours of Friday, with Belfast North expected to declare at around 3am.
